Travel
by Air & Other
 |
Pets
can travel in two ways: in the cabin with you,
or unaccompanied. We will mainly focus on pets
traveling in the passenger cabin as a
carry-on. The general requirements or rules
include:
 | A health certificate - in most cases
health certificates are issued by a
licensed veterinarian who examined the
animal within certain (airline specifics -
see below) days of transport
 | Age - Dogs and cats must be at least 8
weeks old and must have been weaned before
traveling by air
 | Carry-on pet are small enough to fit
comfortably in a kennel (or carrier) that
is placed under the seat
 | Animals are never allowed out of the
kennel (or carrier) during flight
 | Advance reservation
 | Refusal - All airlines reserve the right
to refuse an animal for reasons such as
not meeting IATA regulations, illness,
poor kenneling, or extreme temperatures at
origin, transfer or destination airports. |

|
| The
small, s-medium or medium size Pak-o-Pet meets
the requirments of most airlines. The
dimension of the large size Pak-o-Pet may
exceed those set out by some airlines. For

| If
you are traveling through Europe via
EuroRailways, the following information may be
useful: |
| In
most countries, small pets travel for free or
at a minimal charge, and larger pets travel at
half the 2nd class fare (even if traveling
with passengers in 1st class). Often, pets are
required to be kept in a traveling container.
In some countries (e.g. Spain and Britian)
pets are not allowed. For special regulations
for the French-Spanish Hotel-trains pets are
admitted if the compartment is reserved
entirely. |
